She is responsible for working with patients with a variety of mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and mood and eating disorders. Her services include supportive and cognitive therapy to counsel individuals and treating patients with addiction and substance abuse disorders. Ms. Cartagena became a social worker when re-entered the workforce after raising her family and wanted to find work that involved working with children. A licensed clinical social worker, Ms. Cartagena received her Master of Social Work and her Bachelor of Human Services from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work in 1993. She volunteers for various local organizations and aspires to start a program for young mothers.
