Dr. James is proud to have been instrumental in establishing chaplain services at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital where she has been specializing in palliative care for 11 years.

Grass Valley, CA, Jaanuary 7, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Derry L. James, Manager of Chaplain Services for Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of spiritual services.

With more than 11 years of professional experience, Dr. James specializes in palliative care. Proud to have been instrumental in establishing Chaplain Services at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, she is responsible for overseeing the hospital ministry and staff, offering grief support and counseling for patients, families and employees and contributing to the provision of a healing environment at the hospital. Dr. James has been a guest speaker on various international TV and radio shows. She received the Service Recognition Award from the Nevada County Sheriff's Department in 2006; was recognized as an honorary Chaplain by the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005 and was featured by Women of Nevada County in 2002. She became involved in her profession because she believes she was called from God and attributes her success to her faith.

A Board Certified Chaplain, Dr. James received her Doctor of Ministry, specializing in Christian Counseling, in 2002 and her Masters of Divinity in 2001, both from the American Christian College and Seminary. Additionally, she received her Masters of Religious Arts in Christian Psychology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in 1999, her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, her Bachelor of Arts in Personal Ministries, and her Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Atlantic Union College in 1998. She is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and the American Association of Christian Counselors. In her spare time she participates on the Board of Directors of several community organizations, volunteers with the County Sheriff's Office as a Crises Intervention Officer and as a Chaplain with disaster relief teams.
