Sandra Mitchell Named to Exclusive Membership Organization
Cambridge Who's Who honors Sandra Mitchell for dedication at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center
BROOKLYN, N.Y., June 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sandra Mitchell, Peer Specialist and Advocate for Kingsboro Psychiatric Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of her career.
Ms. Mitchell is responsible for responding to clients' needs by: attending community meetings with administrative staff and clients, facilitating groups (such as: Stress reduction, Communication Skills, Expressing Yourself thru Art & Recovery, Smoking Cessation, Resource Development, Money Management, Expanding Your Recovery Network and Wellness and Self Management), mentoring and training resident and newly employed peers. She also wears the hat of HAI (Hospital Audiences, Inc.) liaison and escorts her peers on trips to the movies, cultural/theatrical plays, concerts and dances, and sporting events sponsored by HAI. She attributes her success to her intuitiveness, tenacious love of learning/listening skills and the great support she receives from her family and supervisors she works with. She is a member of Bottomless Closet: Connecting Women and Work, Women In Technology and is President of the Disability Committee at the National Action Network, House of Justice.
Kingsboro Psychiatric Center is a psychiatric center that provides services and referrals to individuals who struggle with mental illness/personality disorders and substance abuse. Individuals receive rehabilitative treatment towards reintegration into the community, such as: medication management; psychiatric and psychotherapy, person-centered counseling, referrals for housing, mentoring, basic education, job-training and coaching, and group facilitation.
