Dr. Derrell L. Jackson, LPC, NCC Specializes in Counseling in Minority Communities
GRAYSON, GA, July 31, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Derrell L. Jackson, LPC, NCC, CEO & Owner of Project Focus, LLC, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in mental healthcare.
With 10 years of professional experience, Dr. Jackson specializes in counseling on mental health, substance abuse, and legal and family issues for high-risk populations. In 2005, he and his wife, Shayla established Project Focus, a mental health counseling center dedicated to children, adolescents and families. As owner and CEO, he is responsible for supervising treatment teams, counseling on substance abuse issues, overseeing patient care, and handling cases and various fiscal responsibilities. Dr. Jackson began his career as an intern at Flint Odyssey House in Michigan, which opened his eyes to the need for counseling services in minority communities. Honored by the National Institute of Mental Health in 1998 with a humanitarian and outstanding scholar award, he attributes his success to the quality of his education and the blessings of God.
Dr. Jackson is a nationally certified counselor, a licensed professional counselor in the State of Georgia, and a certified anger management specialist. He received his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership in 2008 from Clark Atlanta University, his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2002 from Fort Valley State University, and his Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Gerontology in 1999 from Talladega College. His professional affiliations include the American Counseling Association, the American Psychotherapy Association, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Alpha, and Phi Beta Sigma. In his spare time, he volunteers with Sigma Club and the United Way. He looks forward to branching into the education field.
Project Focus, LLC is preparing to launch a non-profit component to provide mentoring and academic assistance to special-needs students from low- and moderate-income families.
