Dr. JoAnn Joyner-Graham honored for excellence in all aspects of counseling services

BROOKLYN, NY, September 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. JoAnn Joyner-Graham, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Medgar Evers College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of counseling services.

With 15 years of experience in her field, Dr. Joyner-Graham specializes in educational psychology. As the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Medgar Evers College, she is responsible for supervising three full-time and two part-time employees, managing a counseling unit for the institution, working with the dean, departments, veterans and a psychiatrist, and assessing and evaluating students. She attributes her success to her grandmother, who taught her to do her best in everything she does.

Dr. Joyner-Graham received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Walden University in 1993 and her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from Brooklyn College in 1985. Also a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration in 1983. She received Florida's State Education Director Certification at Nova University and is affiliated with the New York Association for Volunteer Administrations and the American Counseling Association. She is the Recipient of the Suicide Prevention and Intervention Strategies Award, New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, Aggression/Anger Management Certificate and Combating Stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Certificate. Dr. Joyner- Graham hopes to move into counseling consulting and would like to work with rehabilitation clinics and returning adults in Higher Education.
