Marie S. Waldeck, CPSS Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Marie S. Waldeck has devoted her career to educating people on substance abuse prevention
CRANSTON, RI, November 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marie S. Waldeck, Executive Director at Initiatives for Human Development, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in community development.
As the executive director of Initiatives for Human Development, Ms. Waldeck is responsible for sustaining prevention providers with substance abuse prevention education and skill building sessions, working with the staff and the board of directors and planning strategies with community task groups. While completing an internship at Butler Hospital in Providence, she observed young people going in and out of the hospital, which inspired her to make a difference in the community. She attributes her success to her family's support which allows her to do what she needs without any hassle.
Ms. Waldeck received her associate's degree in substance abuse and mental health counseling from the Community College of Rhode Island, from which she graduated with honors in 1988. A board certified prevention specialist supervisor, she earned her certification in management at Brown University in 2004. She is a member of the Substance Abuse Council of the South Kingstown Partnership for Prevention and the National Association of Professional Women. Ms. Waldeck hopes to develop the center into a treatment and recovery center.
