Elaine Gilner Friedman, MSW, LCSW, LMFT Named VIP Cambridge Who's Who Member
Elaine Gilner Friedman Honored for Excellence in Mental Health Care

ATLANTA, GA. October 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elaine Gilner Friedman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has been recognized as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of mental health care.

Elaine Gilner Friedman received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Tulane University and her Master of Social Work Degree from Atlanta University. She has been recognized as a member of The Academy of Certified Social Workers and The Academy of Marriage and Family Therapists. As a Certified Approved Supervisor, Ms. Gilner Friedman previously served as an auxiliary faculty supervisor in the department of psychology at Georgia State University.

Early in her career, in 1984, Ms. Gilner Friedman produced a full length feature film entitled Blue Heaven. The theme highlighted one woman's journey and escape from domestic violence. In 1993, she was co-creator of Kinstones, Incorporated. Kinstones were family bonding stones: one stone was cut into sections to be shared with others as a symbol of connection.

Ms. Gilner Friedman believes that the inclination for loving action is the most powerful energy in the universe and that every individual has been given gifts and strengths to enable them to thrive.

Her strength-based philosophy focuses on personal empowerment and individual responsibility. Throughout her thirty years in private practice she has taught therapists and clients how to be conscious and deeply aware that every action, large or small, is a choice they are making.

She has inspired others to grow through this model of inner-directed consciousness. Her guidance shows others how to make commitments to themselves to consciously and consistently be the person they choose to be.

Ms. Gilner Friedman believes that rituals are the threads of life's tapestry. Rituals are behaviors done in accordance with agreed upon social custom or protocol. She emphasizes that rituals bring people together. Even the simplest ones, like Sunday family dinner, give life color and richness. To her, rituals are the anchors upon which memories are built.

Elaine has written and conducted rituals for bridging cultural differences, baby naming, weddings, commitment ceremonies, memorial services and services for healing. One of her poems "Breathe and You Shall Receive" has been incorporated in ceremonies throughout the country.
