Sergeant Major (E-9) Mari K. Sidwell to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry
Sergeant Major (E-9) Mari K. Sidwell became involved in military intelligence after gaining extensive experience in tactical to strategic operations in the Army
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, October 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mari K. Sidwell, Sergeant Major (E-9) of the United States Army, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in military intelligence.
Ms. Sidwell has 24 years of overall professional experience. As Sergeant Major (E-9), she conducts physical training for over 135 soldiers, officers and warrant officers, prepares for operational intelligence briefs, manages production of intelligence products for the Commanding General, subordinate units and brigades, analyzes the quality of products before being disseminated, trains military intelligence personnel to be deployed to Iraq, and provides training in kinesiology, new intelligence systems and latest updates. Additionally, Sergeant Major Sidwell attends meetings with staff and other Sergeants Majors, updates information on particular intelligence fields, and mentors senior noncommissioned officers. She attributes her success to her desire to be a role model for aspiring military personnel, ability to succeed in a male-dominated field, and to being a type A personality
A graduate of Class 58 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeant Major Sidwell received a Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from North Central University in 2010, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from American Military University in 2008. Additional military training courses that she has completed includes Warrior Leader, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Officer, German Common Skills, Basic Noncommissioned Officer, airborne School, jumpmaster school, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer, Battle Staff NCO, Overwater Survival, Combat Survival, Evade, Resist, and Escape (SERE), and Pre-Command.
SGM Sidwell also holds Jumpmaster Certification, Advanced Individual Training in Aerial Imagaery, and Advanced Individual Training in 31M Multichannel Communication Systems, from the U.S. Army. SGM Sidwell completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC.
In recognition of her service, SGM Sidwell has received the following awards and honors: the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), the Air Medal, the Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (9 OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation (1 OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), the National Defense Service Medal (2 bronze stars), the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 bronze stars), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 bronze star), the Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 bronze stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 3), the Saudi Arabia Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, the Senior Air Crewmember Badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Driver's Badge, the German Proficiency Parachutist Badge, the Meritorious Unit Citation (2 OLC), and the Military Intelligence Knowlton Award. She was also awarded the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award.
Due to her love of sports and outdoor activities, SGM Sidwell also became a certified tackle football referee, and a certified softball umpire. She is a member of the United States Specialty Sports Association, the Amateur Softball Association, and the High School Football Association.
