Dr. Nancy T. Livingston finds the understanding and resolution of individual psychological distress challenging and gratifying

Durham, NC, November 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy T. Livingston, M.D., Physician President of Nancy T. Livingston, M.D., P.A. has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

With 33 years of experience, Dr. Livingston provides psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis for adolescents and adults, as well as consultation and supervision for mental health professionals. She has been in practice since 1977, addressing such issues as anxiety, depression, developmental and transitional life issues, internal conflicts and struggles, obstacles to success in school, work and relationships, and acute outpatient situations. In addition to her patient services, Dr. Livingston is respected for her supervision, mentoring, and teaching. For many years she has served on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas and has had an adjunct clinical appointment in the Department of Psychiatry of Duke Medical Center. She is currently honored as one of the Best Doctors in North Carolina.

Dr. Livingston received her M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Duke Medical Center. She also graduated from the UNC-Duke University Psychoanalytic Education Program (now the Psychoanalytic Education Program of the Carolinas). She is Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and New York. Her professional affiliations include the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychoanalytic Association, American Association for Adolescent Psychiatry, N.C. Psychoanalytic Society (past president), and N.C. Psychiatric Association. She also has been elected into Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Livingston was drawn to her profession by a longstanding interest in the emotional and behavioral reactions of individuals to their life circumstances and to the possible psychological antecedents. She continues to find the understanding and resolution of individual psychological distress challenging and gratifying. She also is pleased be able to share psychoanalytic concepts with other mental health professionals through teaching, supervising, and mentoring. She, herself, has been fortunate to have had involved and supportive mentors from early in her career development. Dr. Livingston looks forward to many years of professional involvement.
