Rafaelina Acosta Honored for Perseverance in Psychotherapy
Ms. Acosta established a private counseling practice to conjure a trustworthy patient-therapist environment

HAVERSTRAW, NY, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rafaelina M. Acosta, Psychotherapist for Jericho Consulting, Inc., has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Psychotherapy. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

With 12 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Ms. Acosta has demonstrated a compassionate and persevering attitude when it comes to counseling her clients. She established a private counseling practice five years ago as a way to create a trusting atmosphere and has since been involved in performing psychological assessments, interacting with agencies in the county and conducting social psychology programs and one-on-one therapy with individuals, couples and children.

Ms. Acosta received a Master of Social Work cum laude from Columbia University after already earning a bachelor's degree in the same discipline. To exceed her lifelong goal of becoming a psychotherapist, she added versatility to her skill set by becoming a licensed clinical social worker, certified school social worker and advanced certified hospice and palliative caretaker. She has been honored with a Badami outstanding young alumni award and an alumni recognition award. Moreover, she was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among American College Students. In order to maintain a professional network, Ms. Acosta is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the National Organization for Women, the National Association of Social Workers and Pi Gamma Mu.

In the future, Ms. Acosta plans to expand her counseling practice to include more social workers.
