With 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Colin attributes her success to her experience, education, training, and skills and to the support of her husband and friends. As a Family Mediation Specialist, she is responsible for helping couples and ex-couples negotiate constructively about legal separation, custody, visitation, spousal support, child support, and property distribution. She became involved in family mediation when helping a friend and his ex-wife negotiate and develop a custody and visitation agreement that ended a long, horrible custody battle. She also works as an independent Attachment Research Consultant.

Dr. Colin previously worked as a therapeutic foster parent., a Visiting Assistant Professor at St. Mary's College of Maryland, a Psychology Associate (counselor) in two group practices, a Research Associate at the Children's National Medical Center, and a Research Analyst at Second Genesis.

In 1985, Dr. Colin received a Ph.D. in Development Psychology from the University of Virginia. She received a Master's degree in Psychology in 1976 from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1972 from Swarthmore College.
