Dorothy B. Anderson, MS Honored for Excellence in Mental Healthcare
Dorothy B. Anderson Believes that Personal Growth Emanates from Enduring Hardship
KEENE, NH, March 9, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dorothy B. Anderson, who retired as Senior Staff from Monadnock Family Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in mental healthcare.
A 36-year veteran of the healthcare field, Dorothy B. Anderson focused her energies on helping people fight mental illness. She concluded her career at Monadnock Family Services, a non-profit organization that provides healthcare and community services to the mentally disabled. A senior staff member for 21 years, she was responsible for performing family therapy, supervising staff, interns and marriage and family therapists, counseling grieving individuals, and offering post-suicidal treatment options. In addition to her work for the organization, Ms. Anderson taught at Antioch University for 10 years. She credits her success to her love for her profession and the inspiration of her parents, both of whom were physicians.
Ms. Anderson received her Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing in 1962 from Teachers College-Columbia University, her Master of Science in Pediatric and Family Nursing in 1958 from Boston University, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the American Nurses Association, the National Organization for Women, and various pro-choice women's organizations. She volunteers with the American Cancer Society.
A cancer survivor, Ms. Anderson published a collection of poems entitled "Light Filling My Bones." It is sold through Amazon.com. She looks forward to devoting her retirement years to writing and reading poetry.
