Christian Hansen Hake Recognized for Dedication to Senior Citizens and Autistic Children
Christian Hansen Hake honored by leading professional organization
FOUNTAIN, CO, April 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Christian Hansen Hake, Life Skills Implementer for Home Instead, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in behavioral therapy.
Born to a mother suffering from bipolar disorder, with a father who had returned from the Vietnam War with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Christian Hansen-Hake grew up with a deep sense of commitment to service. At the young age of 13, she began working with disabled children in a volunteer capacity, helping them gain special skills in a group home setting. Today, she works as a life skills implementer at Home Instead, a home care organization providing therapy, life skills and treatment to elderly citizens. She lends nearly 15 years of experience to her position, which holds her responsible for working with adults and their families to provide nutritional and emotional support, and providing therapy for a variety of anxiety disorders. Most of the seniors she works with are incapable of living without outside support and need around-the-clock care. Their families wish for them to remain in the familiar surrounding of their homes and choose not to send them to nursing facilities or assisted living centers-instead. She is able to bring those services to them.
"It takes a village to raise a child," Mrs. Hansen-Hake quoted the old adage during a recent interview with Cambridge Publishing. This is especially true for children dealing with autism and other behavioral diseases. In addition to her work at Home Instead, she renders in-home instruction to autistic children, teaching them socialization skills and helping them to relate to their peers. She also teaches them proper classroom and public behavior. Moving forward, she will seek to work with military families suffering from PTSD and families with elderly parents. This, she will do in honor of her mother, for whom she cared until her passing. "I am a strong believer in giving back," she shared. "It has been an amazing honor to care for her, as well as to continue my work in service of others."
Named Cambridge Publishing's V.I.P. member in 2010, Mrs. Hansen-Hake was the first woman to receive the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. in Southern Colorado. She has also been recipient of the Lifetime Camp Crafter Award from the American Camp Association. Currently, she lends her support to the Sunnyside Christian Church, Association for Retarded Citizens and Disabled American Veterans. She is pursuing a master of arts in counseling at the Colorado Christian University and holds a bachelor of science in organizational management from the same school. She also holds certifications in biblical studies and as a junior high school soccer coach.
