William D. Leiser, Jr. Receives Professional Networking Community's Highest Honor
William D. Leiser, Jr. Named Forensic Nursing Professional of the Year

BETHLEHEM, PA, May 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --William D. Leiser, Jr., Forensic Psychiatric Nurse and Charge Nurse for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Forensic Nursing. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

A veteran policeman, William D. Leiser, Jr. parlays his law enforcement experience into a second career in forensic psychiatric nursing. He recently marked his fifth year with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he is tasked primarily with managing care for prison inmates who suffer from psychiatric issues. Mr. Leiser previously served the Bethlehem Township Police Department as a police officer, on a full-time basis for 22 years and part-time for eight years. He discovered his calling in healthcare after volunteering as a paramedic at his local fire department, and attributes his successful transition to his ability to learn from physicians and his eagerness to add to his knowledge.

Mr. Leiser is pursuing his master of science in forensic nursing at Duquesne University. A certified forensic nurse, he earned a bachelor of science in nursing in 1994 from Allentown College and a bachelor's degree in clinical and counseling psychology in 1979 from Moravian College. Additionally, he obtained an associate in applied science, with a concentration in criminal justice administration, in 1976 from Lehigh County Community College and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 1974 from Allentown College. His professional affiliations include the Academy of Forensic Nursing Science, the American Nurses Association, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American College of Forensic Examiners International, the International Academy of Forensic Professionals, and the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
