Barbara Jean Franks Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Barbara Jean Franks is a member of several organizations to prevent suicides
ANCHORAGE, AK, September 1, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Jean Franks, Program Associate for Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in program management.
As a program associate for Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Ms. Franks responds to phone calls and e-mails from people in regards to all suicide-related issues, and delivers lectures and speeches on suicide prevention. After being deeply distraught by the demise of her son who committed suicide in 1997, she identified the need for suicide prevention programs in the community. She attributes her success to her culture and heritage.
Ms. Franks received her Associate of Arts in Human Services from the University of Alaska in 2008. She is a member of the Alaska Statewide Suicide Prevention Council, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Action Network USA. In the future, she intends to conduct workshops to train more people in Alaska to work in the area of suicide prevention.
