Raymond Root Turns Tragedy into an Opportunity to Inspire Others
Raymond Root helps war veterans get their lives back on track
MAYER, AZ, June 1, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ --Raymond Root has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mental health care.
Mr. Root has mastered the art of turning misfortune into an opportunity for personal growth. Having lost both legs below the knee due to peripheral artery disease, he has since devoted himself to helping his fellow amputees get their lives back on track. With the use of two prosthetic legs, no one would ever guess that he is a bilateral amputee. He specializes in rehabilitation counseling for injured Iraq War veterans and speaks on rehabilitation for groups at various medical centers. A true inspiration to others, Mr. Root strives to touch people's lives wherever he can; to this end, he volunteers at his local church as an organist and a choir director, with Order of DeMolay International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing young men's leadership and life skills, and for many civilian and military rehabilitation and physical therapy programs
.
Mr. Root previously worked for the Texas Workforce Commission, and was a peace officer for the State of Texas and a deputy sheriff from 1969 to 1989. Not one to be satisfied with what he has achieved already, he is pursuing a master's degree. He previously earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and humanities from West Texas A&M University. He looks forward to completing his graduate studies and continuing his research on Pre-Columbian civilizations.
For his accomplishments, Mr. Root was honored by Cambridge Who's Who with selection as a VIP member in 2010 and 2011. He attributes his success to his faith in God, determination, and never accepting "no" for any answer.
