Ms. Mangatal-Stevens served as a volunteer nursing tutor in Papua, New Guinea

RALEIGH, NC, August 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lucretia Mangatal-Stevens, M.Ed., BSN, Registered Nurse for the State Psychiatric Hospital System, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

With 42 years of professional health care experience, Ms. Mangatal-Stevens has demonstrated her expertise in health program development, assessing patients to ensure they are receiving the proper care, and educating other nurses. Prior to joining the State Psychiatric Hospital System, she worked in Lusaka, Zambia with mothers and babies and was also in charge of a 40-bed rural hospital in Papua, New Guinea where she served as a volunteer nursing tutor. Ms. Mangatal-Stevens has also volunteered with the American Red Cross, as a provider of HIV education, and as a provider of family community leadership services with the University of Arizona Co-operative Extension in Yuma, Ariz. She attributes her success to her determination.

Ms. Mangatal-Stevens is currently attending Walden University, where she has completed all but her dissertation for a doctoral degree in health psychology. Additionally, she holds a Master of Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of West Florida. Trained as a nurse in the UK, she is a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association and The American Nurses Association. Looking ahead, she intends to become more involved in holistic medicine and also work in developing countries.
