Mrs. Brumbaugh is dedicated to helping people prevent and recover from domestic violence

BELLEFONTE, PA, January 5, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cindy Brumbaugh, Founder of and Licensed Social Worker for Actions Counseling, was recently named a VIP Member by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Mrs. Brumbaugh has accrued 11 years of professional experience, and five years ago founded Actions Counseling, a private mental health practice that provides psychotherapy for adults and children suffering from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, personality disorders, and behavioral problems. Licensed as a social worker in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Brumbaugh is a professional in counseling, and domestic violence intervention at Actions Counseling, which she runs with her husband, Mrs. Brumbaugh counsels patients in private and group settings, helps people overcome a variety of mental health issues, and facilitates and directs a domestic violence intervention group, a court-mandated program for men who have been convicted of or who have plead guilty to charges of violent offenses toward their partners. In addition, she conducts battery intervention assessments and testifies in court when necessary. Mrs. Brumbaugh is a member of the county's Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force. Actions Counseling's domestic violence intervention group is the only program of its kind in Center County, Pa.

Mrs. Brumbaugh became involved in her profession because she has a strong desire to encourage people to look at their strengths and empower them to draw upon their strengths to bring about positive change in their lives. Her experience receiving helpful social services while growing up also contributed to her decision to enter the field. She attributes her success to her determination, motivation, and a strong belief that if you put your mind to something, you can do anything that you want to do.

Mrs. Brumbaugh holds both a bachelor's degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in social work from Temple University. In addition to being a Licensed Social Worker, she is a Certified Addiction Counselor and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. In the years to come, Mrs. Brumbaugh plans to continue growing her practice. She hopes to do more work in domestic violence prevention and increasing awareness within the community of the need to help offenders in order to create safer family environments.
